Sigh. Chaosdaily has locked up. Apparently someone from her real world has found her diary and begun reading it without her permission.

This happened to me a few years ago. I had printed off a few entries to show someone to get their advice about a particular problem I was having at the time. I didn't GIVE the person the pages, I just let them read them. This person found my diary and began to read it.

I was completely freaked out, especially when they would make comments (in real life) to me about things I'd written. I asked them to stop reading and they said they would.

I seriously doubt that they stopped reading, in fact I believe they still read it today. I thought about locking up because I was so creeped out, but decided not to. Because this person is not involved in my daily life (anymore) and I refused to give up having an open diary because this person didn't understand boundaries.

But, if I were discover that someone I knew was reading my blog in order to find out my deepest darkest secrets, especially if their purpose was to use the information against me...I'd lock up in a heartbeat. It would make me sad (to lose something I enjoy because of their behavior) but I would do it.

It's so frustrating though. Many of us use our blog to talk about the things we cannot or choose not to discuss with others. It's a source of release. To have that taken away is so...violating.

Our online friends become like family. It's always fun to discover that you have a new reader...soon to be new friend. Once you've been forced to lock up...your family doesn't grow anymore.

And that is a shame.
