When we did our remodel two years ago, we (or rather the people we hired) accomplished an amazing amount of work in 5 weeks of hell. Almost everything we wanted, was done. Almost.

The guy who was supposed to put in our new front door and storm door, never came back. Last November out of the blue, he showed up at our door on a Sunday afternoon. He said he was off the next day and could put our new door in. Eighteen months I waited patiently and it was finally done. I love my new door/storm door with a passion that is usually reserved for chocolate.

The guy who came in when everything else was done to put in the trim and crown molding, worked one day and then we never heard from him again. For the past two years, I've not had ANY crown molding. There was no trim in the bathroom or the kitchen. On a daily basis, I would notice this and get irritated. Bill saw this guy at least a dozen times over the past 2 years. Each time the guy would promise to come by to finish the job "next week." Like I said, we never saw him again.

The husband of a friend of mine lays tile. He recently bought some new saws for a job he was doing. His wife told him my sad trim story and he called me to offer to do the job for us. I was so excited, I almost peed my pants. I came home yesterday for lunch and my living room, kitchen and bathroom finally look finished.

I've waited patiently for two years to get this project done. We are now officially finished with the inside of the house we bought 11 years ago.

We won't talk about the work that we still need to do to the outside.
