Let's start with this...I'm fine.
That said, I lied. I wasn't old or PMSy on Saturday. I was pissed off, scared, and worried.
When I went to my doctor last month, she found a small lump on my breast. Because I'm so prone to cysts, she wanted to re-check it in a few weeks. I went in on Friday and the lump was still there. I wasn't too concerned, because like said, I get a lot of cysts.
THEN she left the room to schedule a mammogram and ultrasound. She came back to tell me that she couldn't get me in THAT day. I began to freak a little. She gave me the referral and told me to call them when I got back to work, to schedule an appointment. I didn't want to call from work, so as soon as I got in the car, I called them from my cell phone. They had already scheduled me for the FIRST appointment TODAY. Suddenly, I was totally freaked out.
I spent the weekend, trying to keep a good perspective. But I failed pretty miserably. All I could think was "Can't this family get a break? Now we have to deal with breast cancer?" Be very glad that you don't live anywhere near SW MT.
Bill & I chose not to say anything to Shelby. She's a worrier like me. That's why I didn't write about it. Because I know that she occasionally reads this diary.
After an excruciating mammogram (I threw my back out yesterday + squished boobs) where I swear she took at least 15 views, I had an ultrasound. The radiologist (who had already looked at the mammogram films) came in to check the ultrasound and told me that my lump was actually a cluster of cysts. Whew!
Between the way they had me stand for the mammogram and the way they had me lay for the ultrasound, my back was completely tweaked by the time I was finished.
I called to check in with MH and she said we were still waiting for information from the principals, so there wasn't anything urgent going on. I came home, took some ibuprofen and laid on the heating pad. It's not good, but it's better.
I HAVE to go work tomorrow (end of the year, yada, yada, yada) but I'm thinking my heating pad is going with me.
