I read this meme on Lena's blog this morning and Kitchenlogic's a few days ago. Monkey see, monkey do and all that stuff.

♥ What are your middle names?

DeAnn and Henry

♥ How long have you been together?

We just celebrated our 19th anniversary in January. We lived together for a year and then broke up for about 6 months (he wanted to get married and I wanted to NEVER get married again.) He won.

♥ How long did you know each other before you started dating?

We met 3 1/2 years before we started dating. Actually we LIVED together before we started dating. He was a single dad, raising Jeff. I was a single mom, raising Mike. We rented a 3 bedroom townhouse together. A few months into that we had a "moment" in front of the fridge, after too many rum & cokes. I've always believed that our marriage survived the hard times because we were BEST FRIENDS before we were a couple.

♥ Who asked who out?

Well, it's like this. We'd been drinking and were peering (neener) into the fridge for something to eat. I turned around to ask him what looked good and he kissed me.

♥ How old are each of you?

I just turned 46. He is 53.

♥ Whose siblings do/ did you see the most?

Most definitely his. One or two of his (6) siblings visits us every year. I consider his sisters, my sisters. We joke that if we ever divorce, I get Jackie and Marlene in the settlement. I have 2 half sisters that I NEVER speak to. I'm fairly close to my brother. He lives in CA and is afraid of MT (he still doesn't believe we have indoor plumbing) so I only see him when we visit there. We talk on the phone a few times a year though.

♥ Do you have any children together?

We never bought into that "yours, mine and ours" thing. ALL the children are ours. Mike is 26. Jeff passed away 3 years ago, a month after his 21st birthday. Shelby is 17.

♥ What about pets?

We've always had pets. Currently we have 4 (shut up) chihuhuas and 2 (I said shut up) cats.

♥ Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?

Jeff's death. Not just the fact that we lost him, but helping each other and Mike & Shelby deal with the loss.

♥ Did you go to the same school?

No. He grew up in the High Desert of CA. I grew up in Small Town, OK.

♥ Are you from the same home town?

No, see above.

♥ Who is smarter?

Bill is able to fix ANYTHING. I'm the more logical one. We balance each other.

♥ Who is more sensitive?

I automatically think I am. But truth be told, Bill is pretty sensitive too. He just doesn't wear it on his sleeve like I do.

♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple?

We really don't eat out often. We're more of a take out type family. We're supposed to go out tonight, to Johnny C@rinos. I can't remember the last time we ate out. Probably last summer.

♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?

Together? Oklahoma to visit Mike and Lindsay (the BEST daughter-in-law in the HISTORY of the world.) Bill travels a lot for work. Oh! We went to Hawaii once, but it was before we were a couple.

♥ Who has the craziest exes?

It's a tie. His ex-wife is an alcoholic/drug addict. My ex-husband is an abusive jerk, whose FIFTH wife just left him.

♥ Who has the worse temper?

Hmmm...that's a hard one. Neither of us really has a temper. I'm more of a quick fire that burns out fast. It takes a lot to make Bill lose his temper. But it also takes longer for him to calm down. I think I've seen him lose his temper, maybe 6 times in 24 years.

♥ Who does the cooking?

Supposedly it's me. The truth is, my CROCKPOT does most of the cooking. If it's not take out, spaghetti, tacos or cooked in a crockpot, chances are we aren't eating it.

♥ Who is more social?

Bill, definitely. I'm perfectly happy to stay home. All. The. Time. Periodically he pulls me, kicking and screaming, out into the world.

♥ Who is the neat-freak?

Me. Me. Me. Every once in a while, Bill will get a cleaning bug up his butt. Then he'll walk around the house doing a chore and ANNOUNCING to me (quite proudly) that he's done it. I tell him he's a good boy. Then I pet his head and give him a treat.

♥ Who is more stubborn?

Yeah...that would be me. Stubborn should be my middle name. My Grama used to say the best way to get me to do something, was to tell me that I couldn't do it.

♥ Who hogs the bed?

Bill. We have a queen bed and I usually end up with about 6 inches of it.

♥ Who wakes up earlier?

We take turns. I get up earlier during the week. He wakes up earlier on the weekends.

♥ Where was your first date?

For our first "date" we went dancing. These two women kept coming in front of our table, staring at Bill and dirty dancing. I was getting pretty ticked. Later, when I was in the bathroom, they approached me. It turned out they were dancing for me. ;o)

♥ Who has the bigger family?

Bill. I think we covered this already.

♥ Do you get flowers often?

No. I'm not a flower type person (allergies.) Sometimes I'll buy a bouquet while I'm grocery shopping. Over the years, Bill has bought me roses for anniversaries or Valentine's Day. Every year he has flowers delivered to Shelby's school for Valentine's Day.

♥ How do you spend the holidays?

We don't have any family nearby. It's usually just us.

♥ How long did it take to get serious?

According to Bill, we got serious that night in front of the fridge. It took me a bit longer. My first marriage was horrendous. I would have been perfectly happy to just live together.

♥ Who eats more?

Bill. He works hard, physically. I have a desk job, so my appetite is smaller.

♥ Who does/ did the laundry?

Bill. We used to "share" the cooking and laundry (which means I did 90% of both.) A few year ago, he told me that he HATED cooking and would do ALL of the laundry if I did ALL of the cooking. It took me about 2 seconds to shake on it. If he's out of town, I do the laundry. If I'm out of town, he goes to McDonald's.

♥ Who’s better with the computer?

Bill and Shelby are better with the mechanics of a computer. I'm better with software.

♥ Who drives when you are together?

Bill or Shelby. I HATE to drive. I can find almost any excuse not to drive. I blame it on all the years of commuting 30+ miles (each way) when we lived in CA.

Whew! That took a while to do. Thanks to those of you who kept reading all the way to here.
