I'm finally feeling a bit better. Not good, mind you, but better. This virus has been a booger!
Lindsay, my daughter-in-law is in nursing school. She's currently doing her labor/deliver rotation.
Monday she called me all excited about getting to bathe newborns.
Yesterday when she called, she wasn't quite so excited. She participated in her first delivery. Things were going ok, when the head nurse discovered that the baby needed to be turned. She told Lindsay to do it and explained how. Lindsay looked at her and said "Uh, do you have longer gloves?" She cracks me up!
Anyway, the baby girl was delivered safely and all ended well. Although, I'm not sure Lindsay's as tempted to have a baby as she was on Monday!
Casa de Carolyn has added a new family member. NO, we didn't adopt another pet. We're the proud new parents of a 17 year old girl.
Parental problems. Police involved. (Strangely enough, when I called they were VERY well acquainted with the family. SHOCK!) School notified. End result: She's ours for the duration. She's a lovely girl and we enjoy her very much.
The local police suggested that I turn her parents in for child abandonment. I was tempted. But the moment I do that, she becomes a ward of the court. Bill and I are in total agreement that she is NOT going into the system. Right now we are able to have her here and all is good. Filing charges against her parents won't make them better parents.
This isn't the first time they've thrown her out without making sure she had somewhere to go. This IS the first time they did it since I've known her. Her mother tried to play me. "I guess since she's staying with you, I won't turn her in as a runaway." I answered "I've already contacted the police. They know you sent her out into the night without so much as a phone call to make sure she had a place to go. They're aware that she's been gone from your home for over 12 hours and I've had to call you, rather than you calling me. They consider her abandoned, not a runaway."
That shut her up. Don't mess with a REAL mom. You'll pull back a bloody stump.
I did ask her "So are you telling me that you don't want her back?" She answered "Oh she can come back anytime she wants to. She just has to submit to whatever punishment we decide she needs." Um...YOU threw her out and think SHE needs to be punished?
The more time I spend on this planet, the more I'm thinking mandatory spaying/neutering of PEOPLE might be a good thing.
