5/25/09

I've been working lots of OT for the last few weeks, preparing for the dreaded end of the school year process.

On Wednesday, I was so brain dead while delivering paychecks, that instead of making the turn to one of the elementary schools, I turned onto the interstate. In non-rural areas, this isn't a problem. Here...it is. I had to drive into Big City (8 miles away) in order to turn around.

It was actually quite lovely. For the first time in weeks, I didn't feel rushed to get somewhere or do something.

I took this as a sign. When I (finally) got back to my office, I put in for a vacation day for Friday, or as I like to call them, a Mental Health Day. Thursday, my allergies were out of control, so I only worked a 1/2 day. My 3 days weekend became a 4 1/2 day weekend.

Thursday doesn't really count though. I took an allergy pill and promptly slept the rest of the day. Even the "non-drowsy" ones knock me out.

Friday morning, after everyone else had left for school/work, I jumped into the shower and began planning my day. I'm a big believer in "eat the crust first." (If you've not heard the phrase, it means to do what you DON'T want to do first and get it out of the way.) I did the dreaded grocery shopping. Then I paid bills.

I did a bit of spring cleaning. Cleaning out cabinets and straightening up the pantry and such. I mopped ALL of the floors and cleaned the carpet in the office. By early afternoon, my house was sparkly clean.

I'm not sure how, but it's managed to stay MOSTLY sparkly clean.

Bill & I rented 3 movies for the weekend. Yes Man with Jim Carrey was hilarious. Changling with Angelina Jolie was also very good. 88 minutes with Al Pacino...not worth the $3.99 we paid to rent it.

Today I need to mow the back yard and plan crock pot meals for the rest of the week. I'll be working OT every day until the 5th of June. It's just that time of year.

That's ok. My house is sparkly clean.
