I went clothes shopping yesterday.
I'm not sure where my brain was when I packed up my summer clothes last fall, but apparently it wasn't hanging out with me. At least half of the shirts I've put on were stained (I'm a slob.)
So...I went shopping. I wanted to find some shirts and a couple of denim (blue and white) skirts/skorts/shorts for work. I also needed to find a dress for a wedding next weekend.
I tend to shop the way I do other chores. Very systematically. I choose EVERYTHING that is my size and a color I like, whether or not I think I'll like it. I try everything on and only buy what I LOVE. I'm always at amazed when something I thought was hideous on the hanger, looks great on.
At Ross' yesterday I tried on 22 items, and bought 6.
At Target I tried on 12 items, and bought...nothing. I liked several of the shorts I tried on, but I'm just not willing to pay $25 for them. When did Target get so expensive? After paying $5-$7 each for the shirts at Ross', I just couldn't do it.
Then I met Shelby at the mall for lunch. We shopped for a bit together and found an adoreable skirt for her.
We went to Macy's, where I usually have very good luck. Not this time. We didn't find ONE thing that I even wanted to try on.
Then we went to JCP. We looked around a bit and then Shelby had to leave for work. I began grabbing shorts to try on. I tried on about 15 items, and only bought 1 blouse and 1 pair of sweats shorts (for camping.) I liked several other of the things I tried on, but again thought they were too expensive. I'm VERY hard on my summer clothes, so most of them only last one season. Plus, you know...I'm cheap.
I came home with my goodies and resigned myself to living without the skirts/skorts/shorts I'd hoped to find.
It seems clothes shopping is like that. If you have a specific item in mind, you can't find. it. But I did find a dress. For $15 at Ross.
Score!
