Wedding update (if you don't know what I mean, go back one entry.)
I called the mother of the bride yesterday as we were getting ready to leave. I wanted to see if they'd forgotten anything (we live a block away from them and the wedding was not nearby.)
She answered in a panicky voice "The caterer forgot serving spoons and trash can liners." Not a problem.
Then she told me "Dress warm. We managed to get a huge tent and we have heaters, but it's pretty cold in here."
When we were about 1/2 way to the wedding site, the rain turned into (wait for it....) SNOW!
The wedding was lovely. The bride and groom were sweet and beautiful. The bride made a speech before the toasts, thanking everyone who had helped turn her "outside summer wedding" into a "inside winter wedding."
We left right after the toasts. It WAS cold and damp. My head and ear ached.
As we were walking to the car, we all agreed that it was one of the best weddings we'd ever attended.
It just goes to show that no matter what your plans are, last minute changes will happen. You can fight it or you can embrace it.
When you embrace it...you get a magical memory. Like a June wedding...with snow. With you surrounded by friends and family shivering in the cold because they love you and want to witness the beginning of your new life together.
