Yesterday was an amazing day at work. I managed to get there early, hoping to leave a bit early. Ha!

We work a skeleton crew on Fridays as it is. Everyone who works 4-10's works Monday-Thursday. Don't ask me why they don't have some of them work Tuesday-Friday, because I don't understand it either.

Our normal Friday crew is: MH & I, the AP clerk, the assistant district clerk and (sometimes) the special ed secretary. Having four or five of us there, we manage to all get breaks and lunch and handle the phone calls and walk-ins.

When I got in yesterday, the AP clerk told me she was leaving to go to Great Falls because her daughter was ill and she needed to help with her granddaughter.

A half hour later, the assistant district clerk came in and told me she was leaving to attend a last minute budget meeting/seminar in Big City.

MH is on vacation until next Wednesday. The special ed secretary never came in (she makes her own schedule during the summer.)

So...that left me. All by my lonesome. The district clerk and superintendent were in but they don't answer the phones or help with walk-ins.

I'm sure it was because I was doing it all by myself, but we seemed to have an unually large amount of calls and visitors. It took me FOUR HOURS to stuff 45 checks!

Can I just tell you, it was awesome! The day flew by! Fridays tend to be painfully slow. I'm usually crawling out of my skin by noon. Yesterday I stayed busy all day and when I scooted out of there, I was in a great mood.

I didn't get much of MY work done, but it was well worth it.

Today we're going to a pig roast. I know...gross, huh? Knowing how I feel about meat, I was told it was a BBQ. Bill accidentally mentioned the pig roast part of it on Thursday night.

When I called to see if they need me to bring anything special, my friend told me that they had plenty of salads and desserts. Then she said "We'll have tons of meat of course, because my husband is stuffing the pig with chicken and sausage."

I thought I was going to puke.

I'll fill up on the salads and steer clear of the meat area. SHUDDER.

I just hope they're roasting the pig underground, so I don't have to see it.

Being a non-meat person in a land of carnivores can be challenging. ;o)
