~ I read about 1/2 of Slaughterhouse-five and then put it down. It's VERY good. The problem is with me. I tend to skim/read. This book as a lot to say and I want to enjoy/savor it. I'm saving it for my weekend reading. I usually read for about a half hour or so, before going to sleep. I'll stick to my mindless murder mysteries for that reading time.
~ I am currently auditing an employee's pay records. All the way back to his employment date of 6/90. It makes for some interesting/boring times, digging through boxes of old records. Since I injured my back last October (doing the same thing), I have been FORBIDDEN to pick up and move the boxes I need to get into. That leaves me dependent on having a custodian do it for me. I managed to check 90-94 yesterday. Then I ran out of steam and my custodian helper disappeared.
~ I've been planning to take Thursday and Friday off from work. That's when the BIG CLEAN is scheduled. But, Bill & I were going to go camping as well (our one and only time this summer.) We can't get a reservation at our favorite campground this weekend, so we have to wait until next weekend. Grrr. This campground is perfect for us because it's close enough to Bill's shop, so he can do a service call if needed. Now I don't know if I want to take Thursday off. I'd like to take next Friday off instead. I'm making the custodians crazy because I keep asking them "What and where EXACTLY are you planning to clean on Thursday?" I knew my obsessing had gotten out of control when MH said to me "How about if you decide Thursday morning? If you show up, great! If not, that's great too." (Hey, I warned her soon after I started that I had OCD.)
~ I guess I'd better get the day started. I really want to finish the 1995-1999 audit today. The years 2000+ are in our compters, so I don't have to dig for those.
~ These audits are a lesson in futility as far as I'm concerned. The employee is planning to retire. The retirement plan people send us the records they have. Guess where they get this information? From us! I've done DOZENS of these audits and never found so much as a $1 descrepancy. But we have to do them anyway. I usually do them. MH HATES doing them. I don't mind digging through boxes of records. It's kind of like a huge puzzle to me.
~ I really am going now. Happy Wednesday!
