9/5/09

When we came back from our last camping trip, we decided we were finished for the summer. We'd had three great weekends during a summer we hadn't planned to camp at all.

We discussed it and decided not to camp Labor Day weekend. The weather was supposed to be cold and rainy.

Then the weather did what it does best. It changed. Cold and rainy changed to HOT and SUNNY.

That little tickle of longing began.

While it may be true that you can't be too rich or too thin, it is also true that there's no such thing as too much camping. At least as far as I'm concerned.

I had a very rough day at work on Wednesday. I was checking the first timesheets turned in for the school year. Sigh. It seemed that every other one needed to be corrected. When I correct a timesheet, I have to send a photocopy of it to the employee. I spent 6 hours checking, correcting and photocopying timesheets. I usually spend MAYBE 2 hours checking timesheets. To say thatI was quite frustrated, would be a massive understatement.

Then, Bill texted me out of the blue.

"Let's go camping this weekend."

I immediately called him and said "Don't play with me. I am SO hating my job right now!"

Apparently, he wasn't having such a great day either. We managed to get reservations at a great campground.

Yesterday was the longest day in this history of the world.

Fridays are long days for me anyways.

Fridays before a holiday weekend are even longer.

Fridays before a holiday weekend when I didn't think to ask to leave early until it was too late because so many of my co-workers took the day off...mental torture!

To make matters worse, yesterday Bill closed his shop after lunch and called it a day. By the time I finished my day, he'd been sitting outside enjoying the views and weather for three hours.

It was lovely to get here and have everything already set up.

My hair and my clothes smell like campfire. The sky is the clear blue that is so beautiful, it seems unreal. My view of the mountains is breathtaking. I just brewed a fresh pot of coffee.

Insert contented sigh.
