This is Homecoming Week at Shelby's high school. One of the regular events is the Powder Puff football game. The senior girls versus the junior girls.

Being a part of a 'crazy about football' family, Shelby of course signed up to play.

Being related to me, she of course was diagnosed with brochitis the day before the game. ;o)

She powered through yesterday at school because she knew if she missed even one class, she wouldn't be able to play last night.

I knew she would. She's been looking forward to playing this game for her entire high scool career. She's a little bit hard headed, like her mom.

Bill volunteered to be a line judge, so I sat alone. I ended up sitting with a couple I'd not seen in several years. Their daughter was playing as well.

Let me tell you, I haven't enjoyed myself this much in...I can't remember when. Shelby spent a lot of time on the field. When she stepped in front of a junior (twice her size) to stop the ball, I yelled "NO!" The girl didn't break Shelby in two. Shelby did slow her down enough, so her teammate tackled her. The dad I was sitting with got the exact moment of contact on his camera.

I'm going to have that photo blown up and framed. The fierce look on her face was priceless.

No NFL player has tried harder.

Oh yeah. The seniors won 30-24. GO SENIOR CLASS OF 2010!
