Yesterday morning after I'd showered and dressed, I (barely) cleaned the house. What my Grama used to call "a lick and promise."
I drove into Big City and went straight to Ross. I chose 15 blouses, skirts and dresses to try on. I brought home 7 of the blouses. I didn't try one one pair of pants - I have plenty. The skirts and dresses didn't fit. I wanted one dress so badly. It was so cute and looked (if I do say so myself) SO GOOD on me. Unfortunately, it fit perfectly if I was going to stand all the time, but when I sat down, it was too tight in the shoulders. I looked and looked for the next size up, but couldn't find one. That's the problem with Ross. But, like I said, I found 7 blouses that I desperately needed. I think I'm set now.
I wish I was one of those people who could shop now and then and pick up a few items at a time. I don't really enjoy the process, so I have to make myself do it. Which means I end up spending a couple of hours and buying several items at once. This is painful to the checkbook. It's the trying on that I hate. But I have to try on every item. If I don't, I can guarantee it won't fit when I get home.
After I finished at Ross, I headed over to Tarket. I wanted to look for some tights and perhaps another shirt or two. As I got out of the car, I realized I was so hungry, I was feeling a bit nauseated. I went straight to their snack bar, but they didn't have anything that looked remotely appealing. Costco is next door to Target, so I scooted over there and ate their $1.50 hot dog and drink. They're so huge, I could only eat half of it. By that time, I'd lost any interest in shopping.
I came home and gave my 3 (very stinky) dogs a bath. Since they were alreay unhappy with me, I trimmed their claws too. This is always VERY traumatic for Daisy. She absolutely freaks out. I had lay her on her back and practically sit on her. Bill held her head (she kept trying to bite me) and Shelby petted her and crooned sweet words to her. Whew! How many adults does it take to trim the claws of a 6 lb chihuahua? Apparently....three. Trimming Idgie's claws was only mildly easier. Let me say, I have never ONCE trimmed their nails too short. But they always act like I'm trying to kill them. At least it's over and I won't have to do that for awhile.
Bill laid down for a nap, Shelby left for work and M. left to go camping, so I had the house and TV to myself. I watched a few DVR shows and putzed around doing this and that. Two hours later I went to pick up a pizza and some movies. When I came back, Bill was still napping. He was one tired boy.
He woke up right before Shelby got back from work at 7. We all ate and Bill & I went downstairs to watch "Duplicity." It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it entertained us for almost two hours, so I guess it was worth the $1 I paid to rent it.
Have any of you heard of RedBox? It looks like a soda vending machine, but it has DVD's in it. You rent with your debit/credit card and it only costs $1/day. Compared to our local movie rental store, which is up to $4.99/day...it's a whopping deal. The movie rental store says they charge so much because you can keep the movies up to 4 day. Keeping a movie for 4 days just guarantees that my family will forget to return it. ;o)
Today I'll do the normal Sunday stuff. Grocery shopping, football, baking a treat for next week's dessert and making some sort of soup.
We are a big soup family. During the school year, I try to make a batch of soup every weekend. We usually have it for dinner once or twice and then have the leftovers for lunches.
It's pretty rare for us to get to all sit down and eat at the same time, with everyone's crazy schedule. Usually M & I eat together. Then Bill & Shelby eat together when she gets home from play practice and he gets home from work. Soup is so easy to just heat up as we need it.
That's it. I've finally run out of words. Happy Sunday!
