As women, we enjoy a variety of friends.
We have the friend we can call anytime to chat. She's always ready with a funny story to share. Just speaking with her lifts our spirits and brightens our day.
We have the friend we shop with. She's always ready to hit the mall and look at anything and everything. Time flies by as you walk through store after store, not needing to purchase anything, happy to just hang out with your friend.
We have the friend who is the mate of our significant other's friend. We enjoy doing "couple" activities.
Then there is the friend, like my friend Tami.
She's the friend who says to you "So...what's going on with your hair? Are you just going to do the gray thing? You're awfully young to look so old. The gray hair drains your face of color"
When you reply (in your best whiny voice) "It's such a pain to keep coloring my hair. Besides, several friends have told me that it doesn't look GRAY, it looks HIGHLIGHTED."
This friend will look at you, take a deep breath and say "Yeah...no. It looks highlighted if I'm standing a block away. Any closer? It's gray, my friend."
And my "shall I color my hair or not?" dilema ended.
Everyone needs a friend like Tami. A friend who will tell you what you should know, not just what you want to hear.
