Thanks to Swimmer72 (Hi Steve!) I have a completely different point of view this morning. I need to accept what I can do for M, rather than worrying about what I cannot do.

I spent most of the day yesterday watching/listening shows I'd DVR'd. I put a good dent into the list, but am nowhere near catching up.

Shelby felt good about her ACT test. I know she's SO relieved to have them over. The person giving the test was named Trish. Shelby said Trish kept looking at her until Shelby finally figured out that it was my favorite friend Trish. When Shelby said "Are you my mom's Trish?", Trish started laughing and said "No, your mom is my Carolyn."

Last night we decided to go to Costco for hot dogs. By the time we got there, they were closed. (Why would they close at 7pm on a Saturday? I would think that would be one of their busiest nights.) Since we were already in Big City, Bill told me to pick another place to eat.

I chose IHOP. I love me some IHOP. I was amazed at how good it was. AND we had the best waiter we've had in years. He was attentive, but not hovering. He joked a lot. When my order got mixed up, he immediately fixed it. Needless to say, he got a hefty tip. We'll definitely go back, and he's one of the reasons.

Shelby went grocery shopping with me yesterday. We bought too many treats. Sigh. Oh well, they'll get eaten. I get paid on the 20th of every month. The first grocery trip after that always includes too many treats. By the last one of the month, I'm only buying the bare necessities. So, it's fun to splurge once a month.

MH made a pot of beans and ham last weekend. She brought them for lunch a few times during the week. They smelled so good, I knew I would have to make a pot myself this weekend. THEN, kitchinlogic wrote about making an orange cake. So of course, I have to make one of those too.

Shelby's 18th birthday is next Friday. She's so excited. I remember how fun my 18th birthday was. She didn't want a party, so we're having a family dinner. Yesterday I invited one of her friends to come too. I'm sure she'll stuff the food in her mouth as fast as she can so she can escape to do 18 year old type things. There's a casino here in Small Town that gives $5 to 18 year olds to gamble with on their birthday.

Shelby wrote on the 30th on the calendar "Shelby is 18!" Underneath it, I wrote "Mom is in denial."
